Section Eight presents a good time performance of classic rock favorites from the 60's to the 80's.
Covering selections from a wide variety of artists, the duo comprised of Navy Veteran Kevin Hanley and Marine veteran " Iron Dave" Adams proves to be an entertaining evening of music and comedic interaction, with wisecracks and one liners from an endearing pair of "eight balls".
"People tell us they enjoy the laid back atmosphere we provide when we play. It helps them relax and unwind." says Adams, a former US Marine. "People like a good song maybe a joke or two and a few wisecracks to take their mind off things for the time we get to visit. A few drinks, a few laughs, maybe some food and some great old tunes from a couple guys with a bit of a weird take on it all."
"Musically we are of similar minds", says Hanley, a Viet Nam era Navy vet and engineer, "Dave grew up on a lot of the tunes I enjoyed in the service and we both have an affinity for selections from the 70's and eighties. We compliment each other well, and audiences pick up on that."
The duo's song list covers several decades and formats including classic rock (Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton) soft rock (Bob Dylan, Jimmy Buffet) country (Kenny Rogers, Eddie Rabbit) Southern Rock (Marshall Tucker, Molly Hatchet) and more. "We're really a bit eclectic but usually we can cover all the bases," says Adams. "We are always thinking of something we can add in to our presentation and there's even some intentionally goofy stuff. Kevin and I keep it interesting for both the listeners and ourselves."
Section Eight typically presents three 45 minute sets at each appearance, and books Wednesdays through Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Their unique backgrounds and military experience works well with patrons of service organizations, VFWs, American legions and various Lodge and community functions. They are also available for private parties and gatherings.
